Grand Theft Auto Broken Glass Tutorial

Hello there. This is my version of the "GTA-Broken-Glass" Tutorial. I'll teach you to create this, with Photoshop CS3 (CS and CS2 will do)

The Back Ground
Steps:
1. First, we create a new file with 500px as the width and 250px as the height. Set the colors: any color and black. Make sure the colored one is on top. I used this color. #00aeef
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-1.jpg

2. Next, we click on the Gradient Tool. Then, at the top, set the mode to Difference.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-1-b.jpg

3. Step 3. Drag the gradient tool across the screen. Do this repeatedly. You can do this as much as you want, until you are satisfied with the results.

4. Now, after we make use of the Gradient Tool, We use, Filter>Stylize>Glowing Edges.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-3.jpg
Follow the indicated values or you can make your own.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-4.jpg
Then click Ok.

5. We now apply a Radial Blurr.

6. We duplicate the layer and set its mode to Overlay.

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-7.jpg

7. Now, Create a New Layer from the Layer Palette and set it again to Overlay. Set your colors to white.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/additional.jpg
Then, click the Gradient Editor.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/additional2.jpg
Then, choose the 2nd one from the top left.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/additional3.jpg

8. Now, drag the Gradient Tool across the image to give the image a brighter effect.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-8.jpg

9. Choose a picture, that you'd like to be your subject or main character. In my demonstration, I used Dante from Devil May Cry.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/dante.jpg
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-9.jpg

10. Copy his image, and paste it unto our main file. Then erase the excess parts of the image we pasted.

11. Now, we must set the image's color so that it would match our main file. Click Image > Adjustments > Hue and Saturation.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-10.jpg

Next, apply the values.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-11.jpg

12. Click on the Text tool from the Tool Box. It's symbol is a capital T. Type anything, but make sure it's not very long. I typed, Devil May Cry.

13. From the Layers Palette, right-click on the Text Layer and click on Blending Options. Then, apply the Outer Glow Effect.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-12.jpg

14. Now, Merge the layers. By selecting the layers from the Layers Palette, and press Ctrl+E on the keyboard.
Now, all you have is a single image in your Layers Palette.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-14.jpg

15. By now your image should look like this.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-15-b.jpg

The Glass Effect:

16. Now, click the pen tool as indicated.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-13.jpg

The Pen Tool is like the Line Tool from MS Paint. But here, you click on the next location, rather than dragging it.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-13.jpg

17. Make an odd shaped box using the pen tool.

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-15.jpg

Right-Click the formed shape, then click Make Selection then click OK.

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-16.jpg

18. Copy the part of the image that's high-lighted by the odd shaped box by pressing, Ctrl+C. Then create a new file with 511px and 250px as you width and height.

19. Paste the one you copied, on to the new file.
Then, right-click on its layer from the Layers Palette and click on blending options.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-17.jpg

Click on Stroke Below.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-18.jpg

20. You'd have something like this.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/additional4.jpg

21. Repeat steps 17-20 for the remaining parts of the background image we made earlier.

22. Create a New Layer, below everything else except the background.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-19.jpg

23. Click on Layer 1, and press Ctrl+E to merge it with the new layer. Merge the rest of the layers with the New Layer we made in step 22.

24. We now have a single image.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/jag_thug24/tut-21.jpg

But, of course having a white background, would not produce a good effect. So we delete the Background Layer. Right-Click on it then click on Delete Layer.

25. Save the image as a .PNG File.

Have Fun. :D

I enjoy writing poems too. lol

Here's a poem about being left behind by someone special..
Broken

My heart revolves around the same old tale,
to find true love, but I always fail...
The feeling of emptiness is killing me,
why, my love, have you forsaken me..

Forsaken the love we use to share..
to let go of it, i would never dare
But you, let goed, and cut me loose
for a better man, you think you'll choose..

Why o why did you forsaken me,
I was the man, that all I could be
I guess you thought i wasn't enough,
I was too brave, but not too tough

As I look into the mirror of undwelling doubt,
I see my heart with a deafening shout,
I feel so lost and I feel so alone
I'll never be the star, like I use to shone

My heart cries blood, as I look down,
Wearing tears and a big old frown...
I wonder where you are right now,
I wish i could love you somehow

I hope one day you would realize,
as you look deep into my teary eyes
That you were someone special to me
Im sure you will, and you'll always be..

Adobe Photoshop

What is Adobe Photoshop? Adobe Photoshop is probably the first thing that comes to mind whenever the word graphics need redefinition. It's the easiest and probably the most popular of the image manipulating softwares available in the market. What an introduction to a blog huh? Talking about a software that my skill can't even cope up with. Well, every tree has it's own root.
The reason why I started off an introduction regarding Adobe Photoshop, is primarily because it's been my blog. No, not a blog concerned with "Matters of Consequence"; No, not at all. It acts as my artistic diary, my self-entitled heaven, a place where emotions are released and so on.
Being artistic doesn't require a paint brush or a paint palette. All you need is a place to express yourself. Once you've found it, being creative is as easy as 1,2 and 3. Here in my blog, I'd be posting a few Photoshop techniques I've learned through tutorials, and a few of my own.
I'd also like to share a few "art works" that my deviant creativity found considerable.
Well, "So much for an introduction", I always say; whenever I am unsatisfied with my introductory efforts. How bout looking at life in a reverse manner, where the ending of the story is the start of a sequel? That would probably be the case in my introduction. Maybe because I'd introduce myself at the end of this paragraph.
Hey guys, I'm John, I'm 16 years old and I enjoy amazing graphics, as much as the next kid.
